RACI Matrix

Acronym : RACI

A RACI matrix clarifies, for each task or decision in a project, who is Responsible for doing it (R), who is Accountable for the result (A), who must be Consulted (C) and who must be Informed (I).

Why it matters

It removes the gray areas of ownership that slow down decisions and cause conflict, especially in cross-functional projects involving several departments.

Concrete example

On a cloud migration project, the RACI matrix designates IT as Accountable, the vendor as Responsible, and finance as Consulted.
