Roadmap

A roadmap presents, over time, the major priorities and milestones of an IT, product or security strategy, aligning stakeholders on what will be done and in what order.

Why it matters

An explicit roadmap avoids ad hoc trade-offs made on the fly and gives teams and leadership visibility into actual priorities.

Concrete example

An IT department publishes a quarterly roadmap listing the three priority security projects for the half-year.
